Local Gov IMS has been developed as an open source project by partner councils. The current codebase is available on GitHub — however, we plan to release an updated version once governance arrangements have been agreed with project partners and MHCLG.

Transaction list & search
All payments shown in real-time as received. Multiple filtering options including wildcard narrative search — particularly useful for sort code or account number queries.
Transaction details
Full payment information with audit trail. Email and print receipts. Refunds, journals, and reallocation to correct fund and reference.
Transfers
Move money when it isn't linked to an incoming payment — for example, crediting a council tax account after an award of council tax support.
Payments
Real time payments across MOPs including online, MOTO, cheque, in person via cash, card or cheque and integrated payments from bank file, DWP files and more.
eReturns
Configured using templates to record cashing up with cash, PDQ and cheque. Flexible enough to match your council's existing processes.
Accounts
Account reference validation, with flexible account holder imports, ensuring payments are allocated correctly across council accounts.
Suspense
Unallocated bank file entries fall into suspense. Add notes to track progress. Import processing rules reduce suspense volumes automatically.
Configurable settings
Fund codes, VAT codes, and methods of payment are all configurable within the system to match your council's requirements.
